Description
The floating suctions are used in tanks, above ground or underground, and allow the suction of the clean product near the surface, without the sediments that are normally found on the bottom of the tanks.
The floating suctions are composed of a swivel joint for connection to the tank, intermediate swivel joints, in the case of particular geometries of the tank structure (height greater than the diameter), and of a float unit that allows to follow the level changes, thus obtaining suction always on the surface of the clean product. The floating suctions can be equipped with some accessories useful for fluid control activities such as: analog level indicator and samples for liquid aspiration in different points of the tank. In case of tanks with floating roofs, the floating arms are supplied with submerged flotation systems and an end part suitable for constant sliding on the roof in each of its filling phases.
In the case of underground tanks, the arm can be equipped with a bottom valve, to avoid the emptying of the vertical suction pipe. Our floating suctions are suitable for use with Jet A1 Fuel, as no yellow metals are used in the production of its components.

The series 1501 Floating Suction Units are used on underground horizontal tanks and allow that the suction, through the manhole, is always near the surface where the liquid is cleaner. Main applicaton is on Aviation Fuels and the floating suctions are built with compatible materials.

The series 1502 Floating Suction Units are used on above ground vertical tanks when the diameter is higher than the height. The special design allow the suction to be always near the surface where the liquid is cleaner and hydrocarbons do not contain water, that settles in the bottom of the tank. Main applicaton is on Aviation Fuels and the floating suctions are built with compatible materials.

Aluminium swivel
The aluminium swivels serie 08XX are generally used to assemble loading arms, floating suctions, drainage for floating roof and skimmers. They have a double ball race and different kind of seals depending on the liquid they will be used with. They can also be supplied in different configurations.
SILEA Floating Suctions allows suction to be always near the surface where the liquid is cleaner and hydrocarbons do not contain water that settles in the bottom of the tank.
Main application is on Aviation Fuels and the floating suctions are built with compatible materials
SILEA makes two models:
- 1502 are used on above ground vertical tanks when the diameter is higher than the height.
- 1505 are used on above ground vertical tanks when the diameter is less than the height.
On request the material except the standard aluminium, can also be from: carbon steel, stainless steel AISI 304 or AISI 316.
They can be equipped optional with:
- Level gauge
- Sampling system
They are approved according to the following regulations:
- 94/9/CE Directive, named
- Standard API-ASTM-ANSI-TTMA.
